Mackey Ireland are delighted to add up and coming event rider, Ciara Power, to the Mackey Ireland team for the coming 2011 season.

Ciara Power and her family started up the family equestrian centre, Stonehaven Equestrian Centre, over 10 years ago. An active member in the Waterford Pony Club, Ciara’s competitive career all started out on her Pony “Herbies Delight”. With Herbie she had years of wins and good fun and through him she found her love for eventing.

Ciara spent many years working hard producing horses from a young level up through the grades and after a great season was knocking on young rider selection with “Knox Park Beauty”, but unfortunately injury meant Beauty was sidelined for a year through injury. Ciara’s next chance came with “Stonehavens Ginger”, a horse she bought as a 4 year old and produced up to 2 star level herself. In 2007 Ciara and Ginger won the Irish Horse Board award for being the highest placed 7 year old in the 2 star class at Ballindenisk. She purchased Stonehavens Another Prince in 2007 as a 4 year old, her first gelding after a line of mares. Through the long process she started building her partnership with him from a 4 year old. It was with this special horse that she got to ride for her country in the world breeding championships held at Lion D’Angers in October 2010. She gained a double clear at International level first time competing outside of her country. The aims for 2011 are the under 25 2 star level at Tattersalls. Ciara also competes young horses and has two exciting horses for the season. Ciara plans to compete in England this year at as many competitions as she can to gain more experience. Ciara has a brilliant team behind her at Stonehaven which helps keep the yard running smoothly while she is away. She has great support from her parents and family which has helped her get where she is today.
