Regular grooming promotes good health and hygiene. Grooming goes far beyond tidying up your horse’s appearance and is an essential part of horse keeping. By brushing and polishing your horse you are not only cleaning and improving hygiene but also increasing the blood circulation.
Grooming should not be seen as a quick fix chore before and after riding but should be seen as paramount in promoting the horse’s health and well being. As well as brushing the coat and picking out the feet, there are two areas that should not be forgotten. Firstly the face should be brushed with a soft bristle brush to remove any sweat or dirt and also the eyes should be wiped to remove any dirt, grime or tear stains.
Eye & Muzzle Wipes have been developed to gently wipe away dirt and leave eyes and muzzles clean and fresh. Wipes are preferable as they are disposable, compared to less hygenic sponges, and reduces the risk of transferring bacteria. The other area not to be missed is under the tail. Under the Tail Wipes have a more powerful anti bacterial agent for thorough cleaning of the dock, the sheath and teat area and between the horse’s hind legs.
Again the wipes should be thrown away after use to encourage good hygiene.
